Do we need to be certified, or just have a good system?
That depends on why you're doing it. If your customers or tenders require ISO certification, I'll build the system and support you through to certification. If nobody's asking for the certificate, you can still run a solid risk-based system and skip the certification cost — I'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.

How long does it take to get ready for ISO certification?
For a small-to-medium business, typically six to twelve months from a standing start — enough time to build the system, run it, and generate the records a certification auditor needs to see. It depends on where you're starting from; an initial gap assessment gives you a realistic timeline before you commit.

Do you help with implementation, or just write the documents?
Implementation is where the value is — a system nobody uses protects no one. I don't hand over a folder of documents and disappear: I help you roll the system out, train and mentor your team, and stay involved while it beds in. The goal is always that your people run it themselves, so my support tapers off as their ownership takes hold.

Can you audit a system you helped build?
No — and you should be wary of anyone who says yes. As an Exemplar Global certified Lead Auditor I keep auditing and consulting separate: I can build your system or independently audit it, not both. Conflicts of interest are declared before any work begins.

Where do you work?
I'm based on the Gold Coast and work across Queensland and interstate — on site where it matters, remotely where it doesn't. Regional visits are combined into single trips where possible, which keeps both your costs and my carbon footprint down.

I have clients in QLD, NSW, Victoria and WA. I try to combine trips so that clients can share the travel costs.

What does an engagement cost?
It depends on scope — a one-off internal audit is a very different job from building a management system from scratch. What I can promise is a clear proposal before we start and honest advice about what you need and what you don't. The first conversation is no-obligation.
